It seems most bloggers in this hop agree with you about making their own classic list based on how they relate to the story. A story can stay with a reader forever. My all-time favorite is The Sun Also Rises, by Hemingway. I read it the first time in 1976 and I still remember the haunted characters, flaws and all. So much of this hop was about seeing what 'classic read' meant to each individual. I've been thrilled with the answers, the diversity, and the open-minded approach to the 'new classics.' I think that there will always be the "academic" or literary world lists, but to me a book is much more personal than that. Otherwise, I think I would be like my son who has the attitude of "unless you can learn from it, why read it?"A book and a reviewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02741580442696115996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553369830719055545.post-9990382928207249822013-01-05T19:04:59.407-08:002013-01-05T19:04:59.407-08:00Great post Naomi.

I have read a lot of books over the years and, as you say, many do fade from your memory but others remain fresh, as if you've just read them yesterday. David M. These are all equally important, and JRRT's Hobbit series fulfilled this for me as a kid – as did several Nancy Drews!Molly Greenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15414922469200953101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553369830719055545.post-5337693324590886692013-01-05T07:52:45.716-08:002013-01-05T07:52:45.716-08:00That's how I felt about my classic read, A Tre...That's how I felt about my classic read, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I remeber scenes more than lines, but it's the same thing. I think a classic will stick to you years after you've finished it.
