Reviewing Criteria

At this time, I am not accepting any new requests for reviews. Thank you for your understanding.

Dear Author,

Thank you for considering me for reviewing your book(s). I appreciate that you consider my opinion in reviewing your "baby" and can promise you that I will give it an honest and critical review.

For the most part, I am open to genres and focus more if the book description tickles my fancy.

Please note, my reviews are posted on, as well as my blog,  Goodreads.com; Google +; Amazon; Twitter and Pinterest. If an author sends me a book from Smashwords, I will post a review on there, as well.

On a side note, if a print version is provided, I will assess the book for placement on Sisterhood of the Traveling Book, a Goodreads' group dedicated to reading and reviewing works for authors and publishers. Like myself, a number of our reviewers also have book blogs.

Also, please note that any unauthorized postings/marketing of your books will immediately be removed from A Book and A Review. Thanks for your cooperation.

If you are interested in having me review works for either your book or your publishing house, please feel free to contact me at abookandareview@yahoo.com.

Thank you,

Naomi E. Blackburn

  1. I read about you in the Huffington Post and identified with this quote: 'She’s grown tired of traditional publishers “shoving dried-up authors down consumers’ throats and subjecting readers to substandard work, especially if they find a ‘cash cow.’” These days, Blackburn veers toward self-published books or works put out by smaller houses. “I usually find the works to be refreshing and new,” she says.'

I went to look for your group on Goodreads but see it is only open to people residing in the US or Canada. I was born in the US but married an Englishman and live in the UK.

My debut novel, Once Removed, was recently published by Crooked {Cat} Publishing as an ebook. It's gritty contemporary fiction of the sort traditional publishers find too risky. Would you be interested in reading it?

    1. Let me take a look. I just accepted your friend request on GR, but didn't have a chance to look at your books.

No, TRAVELING BOOKS are only open to members in the US and Canada due to shipping costs. Membership is open to anyone world wide.
