Blue Straggler by Kathy Lynn Harris

Book: Blue Straggler

Author: Kathy Lynn Harris

Release date (if applicable): Released

Synopsis: Bailey or B. is dissatisfied with her life, so she quits her job and goes on a road trip to "study" the life of her great grandmother and finds herself instead.

My rating: 4 Stars

My opinion: What an adorable debut this was! I reviewed this for the publisher after the book was recommended to me by a friend and I am happy it was.

I loved Bailey, who slightly reminded me of Izzy Spellman from Lisa Lutz's The Spellman Files. She had a sarcastic wit to her that I love in writing, particularly female characters. Furthermore, I loved the "unwrapping" of B's growth to see her look for strength in her versus looking for it in her great grandmother. Could have done without the romance aspect, but, hey, can't have it all. Although...I must admit there were aspects to it the love triangle that were just downright hilarious!

Finally, I loved the small town. I live in a small town, so I always connect with stories set in small towns and the quirkiness and comfortable closeness of the characters versus books written in cities.
